About Kedarnath Wildlife Reserve

Near around 49% of the area is under the forest. Thesanctuary is spread across 975 square kilometre area, and the city is in thewestern Himalayas/ Gharwal Himalayas. The average elevation of this area is1160 meters (Phata) to 7,068 meters (Chaukhambe Peak) above the sea level. Itis the leading conservative area for Himalayan Musk Dear.

The whole area is comprised of lush green alpinemeadows, and the forest is of subalpine and alpine coniferous trees. Thespecies spotted here are Jackal, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Wild Boar, Black Bear,Himalayan Bear, Yellow Throated Marten, Flying Squirrel, Musk Deer, and manyHimalayan insects.

About Chopta

The Chopta is the part of Kedarnath reserve and one of the best destinations for camping, sightseeing, wildlife photography, yoga mediation and as well as for hangout with friends. The altitude of Chopta Chandrashila Tungnath trek is 2,680 meters above sea level.

The village is Chopta surrounded by the clumps ofDeodar, Rhododendrons and by other flora. Here you can spot several Himalayanbirds where some are known for their unique sounds, and some of them are knownfor the different sparkling colors of feathers.

 Watching themunder their natural habitat is feel like the boon. It is also known as the MiniSwitzerland of India or Mini Switzerland in Uttarakhand due to the breathtakingviews of the surrounding.

It is 450 kilometers away from the Delhi, 29 kilometers away from the Ukhimath, 162 kilometers from Rishikesh. It is the all-weather visiting destination but not recommended in the monsoons due to heavy rainfall. In the winter snow camping is the main activity.

About Tungnath Temple

The Tungnath Temple is said to be one of the highesttemples dedicated to Lord Shiva in this world. It is the nearby destination tothe Chopta. The distance between Chopta and Tungnath is 3.5 kilometers.

 By Trekkingsteep, you can reach there. The elevation of Tungnath Temple is 12,073 feetabove sea level. It is the ancient temple complex and said to be the third inseries of five high altitude temples of Lord Shiva which are known as the PanchKedar.

About Chandrashila Peak

The Chandrashila Peak is at a short gradient of 1.5Kilometers from the Tungnath Temple. This Chandrashila is seated at theelevation of 13000 feet above sea level.

 It will be thenicest of excellent experience to have the views of Himalayan Peaks visiblefrom there.

 It is the thirddestination which can be visited by trekkers on theChopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila trekking trip. From here you will experiencestunning, amazing views of Kedarnath Peak, Chaukhamba Peak, Nanda Devi Peak,and Trishul Peak.
